At the February 2021 Lexington-Hamline Community Council (LHCC) board meeting, the proposed Lex-Ham Strategic Plan was approved. This was the culmination of seven months of organizational meetings, community engagement, demographic analysis and the translation of the data gathered into a meaningful document. We feel the resulting plan reflects the concerns of the neighborhood and provides a strong foundation for the work of the council for the next 3-5 years. The final plan can be accessed below.
We want to extend a huge thank you to all who participated in the process: Block Leaders who participated in focus groups, community members who took the time to complete our survey and participate in listening sessions, committee members (Karen Randall-consultant, Amy Gundermann-advisor, Lynne Heuton-chair, Yahye Awad, Jeremy Lostetter, Kelly Matthias, Greg Northrop, Pat Sullivan, Emmy Treichel, and Mahadev Dovre Wudali) who made time in their busy schedules for yet another project, and the LHCC board members for their constant support and encouragement.
The Strategic Plan is built around five key focus areas: Crime and Safety, Housing and Development, Building Community, Parks and Open Spaces, and Financial Planning. Within each focus area, goals and objectives have been developed. These goals reflect what you told us was important. We are confident we can achieve these goals with your help. Is there a focus area you are particularly interested in? Please consider joining a committee tackling that focus area. We are aware of the time pressures you experience as you balance work, family and civic responsibilities. We have provided specific work plans to achieve the goals that have been broken down into manageable bits with realistic expectations. If you have an interest in one of these areas and would like to know more about how to get involved please contact the Lex-Ham Community Council office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 651-645-3207.
